Society of the Orthopaedically Handicapped Malaysia (POCAM) proudly held its Petanque Challenge on June 2, 2024, marking a lively and meaningful day in the organization’s sports activity calendar for the year.

This year’s Petanque Challenge was more than just a friendly competition—it was a celebration of community, resilience, and the enduring spirit of participation. Organized with the goal of reigniting interest in petanque among existing members and introducing the sport to newcomers, the event brought together a diverse group of participants, supporters, and volunteers in a spirit of inclusivity and camaraderie.

Held in a relaxed yet spirited atmosphere, the challenge saw both seasoned players and first-timers enjoying the game. For many, it was an opportunity to reconnect with a sport they love, while for others, it was a first introduction to petanque—a game that not only promotes physical well-being but also encourages strategic thinking, teamwork, and social interaction.

POCAM believes that accessible sports activities like petanque play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for persons with disabilities. The Petanque Challenge exemplifies the organization's commitment to creating spaces where everyone can pursue excellence, develop new skills, and forge lasting connections through shared experiences.

This event is part of POCAM’s broader initiative to encourage more active lifestyles and sports participation among its members throughout 2024. As interest grows, POCAM hopes to see more such opportunities emerge, including workshops, friendly matches, and even potential representation in larger competitions.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants, volunteers, and supporters who made the Petanque Challenge a success. Together, we continue to build a stronger, more active, and empowered community.

Stay tuned for more events and updates from POCAM as we move forward in promoting sports, wellness, and inclusion for all.
